RootShield® PLUS+ WP is registered for use in the USA except in AK, ND and NV
RootShield® PLUS+ WP (Active ingredient – Mixture of two species of beneficial fungi, Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22 & Trichoderma virens strain G-41) is an OMRI listed Wettable Powder (WP) product, which is currently used as biological fungicide to control many root disease causing soil born fungal pathogens including Cylindrocladium spp., Fusarium spp., Pythium spp., Pythium aphanidermatum, Phytopthera spp. Rhizoctonia spp. and Thielaviopsis spp.
- - Effective against the following fungal pathogens of root diseases of different plants
-
Fungal Pathogens of Plant Disease:
-
Cylindrocladium spp.
-
Fusarium spp.
-
Pythium spp.
- Pythium aphanidermatum
-
Phytopthera spp.
-
Rhizoctonia spp.
-
Thielaviopsis spp.
- + Key factors for mode of action of RootShield® PLUS+ Granules against root diseases of different plants
-
- RootShield® PLUS+ WP act as a preventative biological fungicide and protect the plants from above stated pathogenic fungi that are responsible for causing root diseases of different crops grown in planting beds, greenhouse and nursery pots.
- When the RootShield® PLUS+ WP containing Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22 and Trichoderma virens strain G-41 drench-applied in soilless media with bark, coir or peat, their live spores will escape from granules and remain viable in moist media until they come in contact with growing plant roots.
- As soon as the spores of both T-22 and G-41 strains come in contact with the growing roots of healthy plants, they will start growing on the outer surface of the roots and quickly form a thick cover around the entire root system without entering into the roots.
- As name implies RootShield® PLUS+ WP, the outer cover formed by the mixture of both beneficial fungi, Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22 and Trichoderma virens strain G-41 on the surface of roots serves as “shield” that blocks the entry/ infection of disease causing pathogenic fungi into the roots and thus preventing the incidence of disease and keeping plants healthy.
- In addition, upon contact with pathogenic fungi, Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22 and Trichoderma virens strain G-41 will release enzymes that generally dissolve cell wall of many disease causing pathogenic fungi and kill them before they can infect roots and cause root diseases.
- + Rates of application of RootShield® PLUS+ WP in potting media and beds?
-
The optimum concentration of RootShield® PLUS+ WP in the solution for the effective control of different diseases is 1-2 tbsps/5 gallons of water or 3-8 oz/100 gallons of water.
- Apply 100 gallons of RootShield® PLUS+ WP suspension for optimum coverage of 800 sq.ft. of surface area of trays/flats/pots that are less than 4-inches deep.
- Apply 100 gallons RootShield® PLUS+ WP suspension for optimum coverage of 400 sq. ft. of surface area of beds or pots that are more than 4-inches deep.
- Apply approximately 1 cup (8 fl. oz. of solution) of RootShield® PLUS+ WP suspension/6-inch pot.
- + How RootShield® PLUS+ WP works in potting media?
-
- When the RootShield® PLUS+ Granules with Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22 and Trichoderma virens strain G-41 active ingredients are drench-applied in soilless media containing bark, coir or peat, live spores of both strains will come in contact with growing roots in the media.
- As soon as the live spores of both T-22 and G-41 strains come in contact with the growing roots of healthy plants, they will start growing on the outer surface around the roots and quickly form a cover around the entire root system without entering into the roots.
