RootShield® Granules is registered for use in the USA except in ND.
RootShield® Granules (Active ingredient – Fungus, Trichoderma harzianum Rifai strain T-22) is an OMRI listed granular product, which is currently used as preventative biological fungicide to control many root disease causing fungal pathogens including Cylindrocladiumspp.,Fusarium spp., Pythium spp., Rhizoctonia spp. and Thielaviopsis spp.
- - Effective against the following fungal pathogens of root diseases of different plants
-
Fungal Pathogens of Plant Disease:
-
Cylindrocladium spp.
-
Fusarium spp
-
Pythium spp.
-
Rhizoctonia spp.
-
Thielaviopsis spp.
- + Key factors for mode of action of RootShield® against root diseases of different plants
-
- RootShield® Granules act as a preventative biological fungicide that protects the roots of young seedlings from the infection and damage by pathogenic fungi that are responsible for causing root diseases to different crops grown in organic home gardens, fields, greenhouses, nurseries or landscapes.
- When the RootShield® Granules containing Trichoderma harzianum strain T-22 are applied in the fields, greenhouse pots or nurseries, its spores will escape from granules in the soil.
- As soon as spores of T-22 strain come in contact with the growing roots of healthy plants, they will start growing on the outer surface of the roots and quickly cover the entire root system without entering into the roots.
- As name implies (RootShield®), the outer cover formed by Trichoderma harzianum strain T-22 on the surface of roots serves as shield that blocks the entry/ infection of disease causing pathogenic fungi into the roots and thus preventing the incidence of disease and keeping plants healthy.
- In addition, upon contact with pathogenic fungi, T-22 strain will release enzymes that generally dissolve cell wall of many disease causing pathogenic fungi and kill them before they can infect and cause root diseases.
- + Rates of application of RootShield® in the greenhouses, fields, gardens and nurseries?
-
The optimum concentrations of RootShield® Granule in spay solution for the effective control of different diseases is 1-2 tbsps/5 gallons of water or 4-5 oz/100 gallons of water.
One application of RootShield® Granules can protect crop from disease causing fungal pathogens for 12 weeks
- Apply 100 gallons of RootShield® Granule suspension for optimum coverage of 800 sq.ft. of surface area of trays/flats/pots that are less than 4-inches deep.
- Apply 100 gallons of RootShield® Granule suspension for optimum coverage of 400 sq. ft. of surface area of beds or pots that are more than 4-inches deep.
- Apply approximately 1 cup (8 fl. oz. of solution) of RootShield® Granule suspension/6-inch pot.
